Before facing South Africa in the T20 World Cup final, India calls off their practice session

India chose not to indulge the players in a training session, preferring to give them enough rest ahead of Saturday's early start of the T20 World Cup final in Barbados.

India will have a practice session before facing South Africa in the T20 World Cup 2024 final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday. Following the conclusion of the second semi-final between India and England at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, the Indian Cricket Association (ICC) announced that they had canceled their Friday training session since they were scheduled to take a charter aircraft to Barbados the same day.

The management of the Indian squad opted against treating the players to a training session since the final gets underway early on Saturday in Barbados. The ICC said, "India has canceled their training session."

India conducted two simultaneous news conferences in Guyana, marking yet another first. The first was the press conference held after India's 68-run victory against England in the semi-final. Player of the Match Axar Patel answered this. The head coach, Rahul Dravid, was present at the pre-match media conference for the final.

"India have already addressed their pre-match media conference," the International Cricket Council said.

The 171 runs that India scored in Axar's four-over spell—three wickets for 23 runs at an economy rate of 5.80—was around ten to fifteen runs beyond the minimum required on the slow surface. We could have easily defended at 170, in my opinion. It was an excellent score. When we talked with Rohit [Sharma] about the wicket's behaviour, he said that it was quite difficult to play a huge shot since the odd ball was both spinning and remaining down, sliding on. We thus believed that 150–160 is a very excellent score, which we could support. We knew that we had done an additional 10 to 15 trips when we reached 170," he said.

India advanced to their third T20 World Cup final after bowling South Africa out for 103 in 16.4 overs. Their first opportunity to win the championship since 2014, when they lost to Sri Lanka, will come on Sunday.

In his speech before to the championship match, head coach Rahul Dravid supported an out-of-form Virat Kohli. "You know with Virat, the thing is, when you playing a slightly high risk brand of cricket there can be times when it fails to take off," Dravid said.

Meanwhile, South Africa had its fair share of difficulties when its players and support personnel found themselves stuck at the Trinidad airport for many hours after a tiny private aircraft's unsuccessful landing at the Grantley Adams airport in Barbados. The Barbados Police Service and the Civil Aviation Authority shuttered the airport so they could conduct inspections.

However, they have scheduled a pre-match news conference and an optional training session for this Friday.

"From 14:00 to 17:00 local time, South Africa will undertake an optional training session at the Kensington Oval. At 13 o'clock local time, they will personally address the pre-match media conference at the location, according to ICC.

In whatever format, this will be South Africa's first World Cup final participation.
