Due to their breaches of the MV Act, the owners of these cars each face a punishment of Rs 20,000.

162 automobiles and SUVs have been penalized by the Delhi Transport Department's enforcement teams for breaking the GRAP III limits, which were put in place because of the dangerously high levels of air pollution in the city, authorities said on Saturday. According to them, the owners of these cars each received a punishment of Rs 20,000 for breaking the MV Act.


Delhi-NCR is subject to the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stage III limitations, which prohibit operating four-wheelers classified as BS III gasoline and BS IV diesel. Enforcement teams are being stationed around Delhi in shifts as part of the campaign, with a focus on 13 hotspots for pollution: Rohini, Dwarka, Okhla, Punjabi Bagh, Vivek Vihar, Wazirpur, Jahangirpuri, RK Puram, Bawana, Narela, Mundka, Mayapuri, as well as Anand Vihar, according to authorities from the transport department.


Thirty-two teams for two-wheelers and up to 84 teams for four-wheeler limitations are operating in shifts around the clock. 162 BS III gasoline and BS IV diesel light motor vehicle owners were fined Rs 20,000 till Saturday under the GRAP III limitations.


Currently, the only vehicles permitted to operate on the roadways of the nation's capital are buses, electric cars, and light motor vehicles that meet the BS VI emission criteria. According to authorities, 3,683 vehicle owners have been challaned for failing to control pollution, and 301 overweight vehicles have already been confiscated.


Additionally, 4,031 challans were given to owners for parking offenses, and 340 buses were detained for various infractions, according to the report. Nine teams lead by inspectors are keeping an eye on the enforcement teams. In order to keep an eye on large trucks, overloaded trucks, as well as BS III and BS IV light transportation, eighteen enforcement teams are stationed in border regions near hotspots.


In order to address the traffic jams caused by interstate buses and other vehicles at significant choke points, sixteen additional teams were working in shifts from 4 PM to 12 AM. In addition, 41 squads were sent out in two shifts to monitor and apprehend violating cars on 22 designated sections of the Inner Ring Road and Outer Ring Road.


They further said that 39 motorcycle patrolling teams were assigned from 9 AM to 6 PM to enforce PUCC infractions.
