The promotion of global food security is the focus of World Food Day, which is observed annually on October 16.


Every year on October 16, there is a celebration of World Food Day.

There are thousands of hungry individuals in the globe, and we must do more to increase awareness of the issue of famine.




The WFD may be used to promote a healthy diet and increase public awareness of it.


The International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Food Programme are two organizations that participate in the World Food Day celebrations.


History

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a specialized body of the United Nations, founded World Food Day in 1945. 


At the 20th FAO meeting in November 1979, it received official recognition as a global holiday after 34 years. 150 nations then continued to celebrate the next day when it was given formal UN recognition.


The globe Food Day has been used to spread the message that feeding the globe and eradicating poverty in rural regions are important goals since 2014.


The World Food Day has recently utilized its annual day of celebration to put the spotlight on several facets of food security and agriculture, such as fishing communities, climate change, and biodiversity.


Significance

The theme of World Food Day in 2023 is "Water is life, water is food." Never leave anybody behind.


"Water is required for life to exist on Earth. It makes up the vast majority of the surface of the planet, more than half of our bodies, generates our food, and provides livelihoods. We must stop taking this priceless resource for granted since it is not limitless. Water quality is impacted by what we consume and how it is generated. On its official website, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States claims that "together, we can take water action for food and be the change.
