 According to Siddaramaiah, farmers in Karnataka suffered losses of 30,000 crore owing to the drought


According to Siddaramaiah, the chief minister of Karnataka, the state's farmers have lost 30,000 crore this year as a result of the drought, according to PTI.


According to the Karnataka Chief Minister, 42 lakh hectares of the state's crops have been lost due to the drought, and 216 out of 236 taluks have been designated as drought-hit.




"The state has seen a 42 lakh acre agricultural loss. This year, the farmers suffered a loss of $30,000. At the start of the historic Mysuru Dasara celebration, Siddaramaiah was quoted by PTI as stating, "We have requested 4,860 crore from the union government in accordance with National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) regulations, and the central team has visited the drought-hit districts.


The state administration has already declared drought in 195 taluks of the state, the chief minister said. 


The cabinet subcommittee has now declared drought in 21 taluks after the meeting. A total of 216 taluks have been listed as drought-affected, he added.


According to Siddaramaiah, his administration would provide farmers input subsidies for drinking water, feed, water for livestock, jobs, and other relief measures. The Karnataka chief minister said, "This year's specialty has been that we are witnessing green drought, where vegetables have grown but there is no yield."


\Based on another round of agricultural surveys and a ground truthing report performed in the previous week, the state administration officially notified the public on Friday that 22 additional taluks were impacted by the drought.


Krishna Byre Gowda, the minister of revenue for Karnataka, said that another memorandum requesting more relief funding for the state would be sent to the federal government on Monday. According to the parameters set out by the federal government, the state has the option to request an extra 300–350 crore in drought assistance, the minister added.


If Haveri, Shiggaon, Hanagal, and Byadgi are not declared drought-affected by Monday, the state administration was warned on Saturday by the former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai of an agitation with the farmers.
