India's outstanding accomplishment in winning 100 medals ties together numerous tales of hardship, effort, and record-breaking success. One such tale is the outstanding men's team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who on Saturday won India's first-ever gold medal in badminton at the Asian Games.

In Hangzhou, the two athletes defeated Choi Solgyu and Kim Wonho of South Korea in a sweep of games.

Satwik and Chirag's triumph was India's first men's doubles medal in 41 years, since Leroy D'sa and Pradeep Gandhe earned a bronze in the 1982 competition.

The two danced joyfully on the court to celebrate their victory shortly after it was achieved.

In March of this year, the two made history by being the first Indians to win the Asian Championships in 58 years. To cap off their incredible run, they defeated Choi and Kim, who were placed 15th, 21-18, 21-16. The two are renowned for their incredible chemistry and fun victory dance in addition to their powerful performance.

The two decided to commemorate their No. 1 victory in the Korea Open in July of this year by dancing in the impressive "Gangnam style."

All India Radio News on X, formerly known as Twitter, said that "@satwiksairaj and @Shettychirag04 win men's doubles title stunning world no. 1 Indonesian duo Fajar Alfian with Muhammad Rian Ardianto in Yeosu."

With three medals—a men's doubles gold, a men's team silver, and a men's singles bronze—India finished with their best-ever showing at the continental championship thanks to the victory.

India took home two medals—a silver and a bronze—from the Jakarta 2018 event, while the 1982 edition saw them win five bronze.

When BWF reveals the rankings on Tuesday, Satwik and Chirag will overtake all other teams as the top duo in the globe.

The Indians have a 2-0 record against their opponents going into the summit match. As Satwik and Chirag struggled for the whole of the first game, which saw both teams execute an impeccable offensive, it appeared to be a difficult situation.

But the Indian team kept nipping at the Koreans' heels, and in the dying seconds of the first game, they overcame a four-point deficit to win.

After then, it was a commanding performance as Satwik and Chirag slowed down the rallies and maintained their lead throughout to win.

The two partners fought for supremacy from the start, making it a slugfest. The Indians were missing a couple shots, and the Koreans were ahead 6-3.
