The Indian delegation broke their previous best, established in 2018 in Jakarta, by winning a record 107 medals in Hangzhou, including 28 gold, 38 silver, and 41 bronze.

In addition to winning soccer gold and the military exemption at the Asian Games on Saturday, South Korea's men overcame Japan 2-1.

South Korean law grants exemptions from the 18 to 21 months of military service that all able-bodied men are required to begin by the time they age 28 to all male gold medal winners at the Games. Lee Kang-in, a midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, and the other 21 players on the squad will only have to complete 544 hours of community service.

As he trains for the 2024 Paris Olympics, he has set his sights on not only breaking the 90-meter barrier but also making it the new benchmark.

He said, "This season, somewhere in terms of distance, I felt slightly bad, and I had injuries throughout the season, during a virtual engagement. I regret not being able to end the 90m question this season.

"So I have to find in oneself what I can do, what mindset I can make that I may fulfill my potential because I feel I am still a lot away from that," he stated.
