Report: Apple will soon start producing the iPhone 15 in India

Currently, 7% of Apple's iPhones are made in India.

Foxconn, Apple's hardware manufacturing partner, is allegedly getting ready to start producing the iPhone 15 series at its factory in Tamil Nadu. According to a Bloomberg story, Foxconn is preparing to assemble the forthcoming iPhone 15 at its facility in Sriperumbudur.

Along with Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron (soon to be bought by Tata Group) are also claimed to be working on the production of the iPhone 15 in India and are actively procuring components for it, according to the Bloomberg story.

The iPhone SE was the first model built in India by Apple, which started producing iPhones there in 2017. The business began producing the iPhone 14 barely three months after its release the year before, and this year it is further reducing the period between India and China for manufacture. This implies that within a few weeks of its formal introduction, the'made-in-India' iPhone 15 should be available for purchase.

Apple, however, has only been producing the standard iPhone models; the Pro iPhone models are still only produced in China. According to a recent PTI story, Apple has reportedly started producing AirPods at its Hyderabad facility in India.

Apple is gradually expanding its manufacturing base outside of China as a result of the continuous political friction between the US and China. India has benefited the most from this trend since 7% of the iPhone is produced there.

The business is increasing its marketing and sales activities in addition to its production initiatives. As a result, Apple now has two physical locations, and India just overtook China as the fifth-largest market for iPhones globally.
