 In an effort to keep consumers, Meta prepares AI-powered chatbots: Report


The research is released at a time when Meta officials are working to increase retention for their new text-based app Threads after it lost more than half of its users in the weeks after its introduction on July 5.


The Financial Times reported on Tuesday that Meta Platforms is prepared to provide a variety of chatbots driven by artificial intelligence (AI) that have distinct personalities as early as September. Meta has been building chatbot prototypes that can converse with users in a way that is comparable to having a human conversation, according to a source quoting individuals with knowledge of the plans. a real conversation as the business works to increase user engagement on its social media platforms.




The social media behemoth, situated in Menlo Park, California, is even looking on chatbots that mimic Abraham Lincoln's speech patterns and another that offers trip suggestions in the manner of a surfer, according to the story. 


The capabilities of these chatbots will include brand-new search features and recommendation generation. The survey's findings are released as Meta officials try to get customers on board with Threads, their brand-new text-based app, which lost more than half of its users in the weeks after its launch on July 5. 


When approached by Reuters about the FT article, Meta declined to comment. In its results last week, the Facebook parent company reported a significant increase in advertising income and forecasted third-quarter revenue beyond market estimates.


With the help of the buzz around cutting-edge AI technology and an austerity campaign that saw the corporation lay off some 21,000 people since last autumn, the company has been recovering from a painful 2022.

 

Llama 2, an updated version of Meta's open-source artificial intelligence model that runs on Windows and will be made available by Microsoft through its Azure cloud service, was released in July for commercial usage.


According to a July report by Bloomberg News, Apple is developing AI products that compete with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Bard. 


Additionally, the article noted that Apple has created its own framework, dubbed "Ajax," for creating detailed language models and is now developing a chatbot known to some developers as "Apple GPT."
