Passengers give overwhelming response to Mumbai-Gandhinagar Rajdhani Vande Bharat Express

 

Indian Railways has made a huge contribution in the multidimensional development of the country. Ushering in a new era of comfortable and enhanced rail travel experience, the new Vande Bharat Express trains become the new face of India's rising power in rail transport. This modern semi high-speed train is the next big leap for Indian Railways on parameters of improved design, interior and speed while providing a pleasant traveling experience to the passengers. This train is a great symbol and example of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'.

Presently 10 Vande Bharat trains are running and connecting 108 districts of 17 states. The Mumbai Central - Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express was the third Vande Bharat Express of the country. This train was started on September 30, 2022. It connects the state capitals of Mumbai and Gujarat with halts at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad, covering seven districts along the way. With an average occupancy of 130%, the train has become an instant hit among commuters. Other Vande Bharat trains running between New Delhi - Varanasi, New Delhi - Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, New Delhi - Amb Andaura, Chennai Central - Mysore, Nagpur - Bilaspur, Howrah - New Jalpaiguri, Secunderabad - Visakhapatnam, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - Are. Solapur and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus - Shirdi.

Giving more details, Shri Thakur said that Vande Bharat Express offers innumerable superior amenities that provide passengers an aircraft like travel experience and advanced state-of-the-art safety features. It is provided with fully suspended bogies with traction motors for an operating speed of 160 kmph. The advanced state-of-the-art suspension system ensures smooth and safe journey and enhanced riding comfort for the passengers. All classes have reclining seats, while the executive coach has an additional 1800 reclining seats. Each coach is equipped with 32" screens that provide passenger information and infotainment. Divyang-friendly washrooms and seat handles with seat numbers in Braille characters have also been provided. Vande Bharat Express also includes several advanced safety measures. It Equipped with Kavach - an indigenously developed train collision avoidance system. This technology has been developed indigenously under the Make in India initiative due to which its cost is very low. The train is also provided with four platform side cameras outside the coaches including rear view cameras.The train is designed to enhance the green footprint of Indian Railways by dispensing with power cars with advanced regenerative braking system and saving around 30% electricity.

The railway official further said that in order to curb the incidents of cattle overturning, Western Railway has started the construction of metal beam fencing on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. The metal barrier fencing will cover a length of about 622 km between Mumbai to Ahmedabad and will be built at a cost of about Rs 245.26 crore. All 8 tenders have been awarded and work is going on in full swing. The work is expected to be completed by the end of May 2023.

Vande Bharat Express is a new age train that redefines passenger travel in India. This train is set to connect most of the big and small cities across the country. In keeping with the vision of 'Make in India' of Hon'ble Prime Minister, these trains are being manufactured indigenously in our country. Presently, these Vande Bharat trains are being manufactured at Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. Now, to speed up the manufacturing of these coaches, the production of these trains will start soon at Latur in Maharashtra. Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and Sonipat in Haryana.
