Elon Musk said that user seconds in the US for the same day were 93 billion, which was 23% more than the previous record of 76 billion.

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk said that use of his social media network X, previously known as Twitter, reached a "all-time high" on July 15 in a post on the website.

"X use reached a new peak yesterday, with 417 billion user-seconds worldwide! User-seconds in the US hit 93 billion, a 23% increase over the previous record of 76 billion. In one day's time," he wrote.

"X is essential."

The social media profiles linked to X published a number of messages earlier in March that included figures to "prove" that "X is indispensable."

"Every day, 250 million individuals utilize X. Every month, 550 million individuals visit the global town square. Users use X for thirty minutes a day on average. The average amount of time users spend on the site each day has increased by +13% this year. According to account X Data, "mobile time spent is up +17% vs. the last six months."

"As of now in 2024, X has an average of over 8 billion daily active user minutes, rising 10% from the previous year. Every day, 1.7 million new members join X, it continued.

X, Elon Musk, and Twitter

Musk paid $44 billion to acquire Twitter in October 2022, but the acquisition has since been deemed excessively costly since the company's value has almost completely dropped. Musk sacked senior executives, let go of half the company's employees, established a content moderation committee to consider account reinstatements, and redesigned the platform's subscription model in the days that followed.

In addition to changing the name to X in July 2023 and doing away with the recognizable blue bird, Musk has made a number of controversial changes to the business, such choosing to unlock suspended users.

Due to his divisive choices, the platform started to lose a significant amount of money from advertisements as a result of Trump's actions. To offset the losses, he developed Twitter Blue, a paid verification service.

Musk said on March 28, 2024, that in an effort to increase platform engagement, X accounts with more than 2,500 verified subscriber followers would have free access to Premium services, while accounts with more than 5,000 followers would also receive free access to Premium features.
