Canton Fair: Chinese corporate social responsibility is on display as IT advancements take center stage at the fair

In the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, exhibitors are presenting their newest technological items at the 2024 Canton Fair. After speaking with a few of the exhibitors, our reporter Dai Kaiyi learned how they gain the confidence of consumers by consistently innovating and upholding social responsibility.

DAI KAIYI Guangzhou "I've been speaking with foreign purchasers at the Canton Fair for the last several days. They claimed to discover new goods and merchandise at the event each year. The fair's ability to seamlessly link Chinese manufacturers with foreign buyers is presumably why it has been operating for more than 60 years. Exhibitors are now clearly demonstrating how China leads not only in creative ideas but also in corporate social responsibility. China is never short of cutting-edge technology."

Brain-computer interface robots for hands that assist amputees in moving are on display at the BrainCo pavilion. BrainCo is a Chinese brain-computer interface firm. It's one of the very few brands in the world, according to its Senior Vice President, that can move individual fingers without the need for surgery.

Senior Vice President of BrainCo, HE XIYUJIN, said, "As far as commercializing this technology goes, I think we are among the best in the world, as BCI is still in its very early stages in many places. For the invasive ones, we all know that Elon Musk's Neuralink has only recently begun lab testing." Thousands of people have already used them; we all think this technology is useful and will have a positive influence on society."

According to He Xiyujin, the business wants to move the technology beyond the lab and into the real world. She claims that a large number of related tech startups that she is aware of are moving toward creating goods that really improve people's lives.

The luxury sports car manufacturer GAC has an exhibit displaying its vehicles within a short distance from BrainCo. China's EV manufacturers, according to the general manager of sales and services, are leaders not only in batteries and motors, but also in the idea of creating intelligent spaces for passengers and drivers in addition to cars.

WEI HAIGANG General Manager GAC International Automobile Sales & Service Co., Ltd. "Electrification, intelligence, connection, and sharing have all advanced in the car sector in recent years. Not only have our idea and technology resulted in smarter automobiles but also better mobility solutions, thanks to China's advancements in new energy technologies, especially in battery, motor, and control systems as well as intelligent networking. This has made China a leader in both conceptual and technical domains, steering the course of the global car sector."

Guangzhou's DAI KAIYI "Domestic firms are considering more how technology may really impact society, whether it's via brain-computer interface technology or clever solutions offered by China's EV goods. In order for these technologies to really improve people's lives, they don't merely speak about grand ideas; instead, they take a very practical approach. Dai Kaiyi from Guangzhou's CGTN.
