The Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam party is expected to make its political debut in the 2026 state elections, according to Tamil superstar "Thalapathy" Vijay.

The actor released a statement saying that the party would, however, not run in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and will instead make its political debut in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

He said, "Given the current political climate, which separates people on the basis of caste, religion, and corruption is evident everywhere, I am aiming for a corruption-free, progressive, and secular government."

The most recent celebrity from the entertainment industry to enter politics

With this, the 49-year-old actor joins the ranks of prominent Tamil Nadu film industry figures who have ventured into politics.
