Tina Vidal-Duarte has been named as the next Chair of the Board of Directors of Florida Grand Opera.


As she moves from being chairman-elect to her new position, she takes over from Per Olof Lof, who has been her colleague for the last year. Since 2019, Lough has been in this position.


"As the new president of this great opera house, my vision is to transform communities by means of culture, inspire younger generations by means of the transformative power of music, and to develop a welcoming space," Vidal-Duarte reportedly said, according to an official. With over 20 years of experience in engineering, emergency management, and disaster health consultancy for governments, Vidal-Duarte is the CEO of CDR Health Care, Inc., as well as CDR Maguire, Inc. is the Executive Vice President. She is on the boards of the Hope Florida Foundation and the FIU Foundation, in addition to working at the Miami-Dade Homeless Trust.

Tina Vidal-Duarte has been named the new President of the Board of Directors of Florida Grand Opera (FGO) by the Board of Directors. With Ms. Vidal-Duarte, Per Olof Lof steps down. Over the last year, Mr. Lough has assisted Ms. Vidal-Duarte in her transition from president-elect to FGO president.


The Board would like to extend its sincere thanks to Mr. Lough, who became Chairman in 2019, for his committed service and noteworthy contributions to the organization, particularly his priceless financial assistance. Through his efforts, FGO was able to survive the most difficult period for the arts in recent memory—Covid. In his capacity as president, he oversaw the work with the board and the FGO personnel, directing and stabilizing the vessel through many presentation changes, figuring out audience behavior during COVID, and then again before FGO opened for live performances. He will keep serving on the FGO Board and provide insightful counsel.


"It is an honor to serve as Florida Grand Opera's Chairman and President," Mr. Lough said. Knowing that the organization is in skilled and caring hands after this transfer makes me very happy. I had asked Tina whether she would be interested in being nominated as the FGO President-Elect more than a year before. She consented, and the Board gladly chose her. I think FGO is ready for the next wave of leaders. Now is the ideal moment to launch FGO into new frontiers. Tina has shown her passion for opera, her steadfast support for FGO, and her capacity for leadership. Furthermore, Tina and her spouse Carlos have shown our business a great deal of generosity. Consequently, I give him this present with pride and appreciation.


As Chair-Elect since 2022, Ms. Vidal-Duarte has been an outstanding member of the Florida Grand Opera Board since 2019. She is committed to bringing FGO back to life as President by creating engaging programs that will captivate and motivate viewers. Reimagining the opera experience, drawing in seasoned fans, and welcoming novices are all part of his mission. With these endeavors, he hopes to fortify FGO's standing as the seventh-oldest opera company in the country and a distinguished pillar of Florida's performing arts scene.

Ms. Vidal-Duarte's new position benefits from her extensive expertise. The CEO of CDR Maguire, Inc. and CDR Health Care, Inc. He serves as Executive Vice President and has over 20 years of experience advising governments on disaster health, emergency management, as well as engineering. He oversaw Florida's field hospital system throughout the pandemic and introduced CDR HealthProTM, a nationwide provider of products and services valued at over $500 million. Together, Ms. Vidal-Duarte and her husband, Carlos Duarte, have over $5 million in charity contributions to causes near and dear to their hearts, in addition to being business partners.


In addition to her accomplishments in her career, Ms. Vida-Duarte has a strong community participation in Florida, FGO, and philanthropic contributions. She is an advocate for homeless children and works at the Miami-Dade Homeless Trust. She also sits on the Hope Flory Handa Foundation Board as well as the FIU Foundation Board. She formerly headed the FIU Honors College Advisory Board, was a board member of Strong Women, Strong Girls, and served as a commissioner for the California Commission on the Status of Women. A service member of the Young Patrons of the Opera (YPO) is Ms. Vidal-Duarte. She has a Bachelor of International Business as well as marketing (Magna Cum Laude) as well as a Master of International Business (Summa Cum Laude).
