After a valiant 109-98 victory at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Monday, the Golden State Warriors eliminated the Brooklyn Nets 2-0 in their season series. Coach Steve Kerr substituted Gui Santos for Klay Thompson in the closing lineup, resulting in a new starting lineup.

When reporters questioned Thompson about not participating in the final lineup—a move that has started to happen more and more lately—he was with Draymond Green in the Warriors locker room after the game.

Before Thompson could reply, Green, who was singing his triumph away, chimed in:

Regarding whom are they speaking? "I sat on the bench in Game 5 of the Finals, who cares?" is what you say when you don't complete the game.

The reporter answered Green right away:

"Well, I haven't asked this yet, but I won't now."

Green answered:

"Well, I answered it for you because I felt like you were going to do that."

Klay Thompson seemed obviously frustrated that Golden State didn't win the game.

After the Warriors triumph, video of Klay Thompson seeming unhappy with his substitution for Moses Moody in the final lineup at 7:19 of the fourth quarter emerged.

About his season average, Thompson played 30 minutes and finished with eight points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a poor 0-of-3 shooting from outside the arc.

The five-time All-Star discussed his philosophy of not making clutch plays:

"It's all good, these guys played great, Jonathan Kuminga and BP [Brandin Podziemski], winning solves everything at the end of the day."

After battling for the title and skipping games till the end of the season, the reporter questioned him about if he was going through an adjustment phase.

Thompson answered directly:

Yes, are you serious? Developing into one of the top players is difficult for everyone. I'll tell you the truth," he continued.

"You could be angry, but I won't be angry either. I'm delighted for these young men. We prevailed. In this league, winning is difficult."

Even though he may have to substitute them in the closing minutes of the game, Thompson is still motivating his players despite his difficulties adapting.

Steve Kerr projected after the game that Thompson would help the Warriors win a lot of games this season, despite the fact that Thompson hasn't closed many games previously.

Following their victory on Monday, the Warriors will play two more road games against the Indiana Pacers and the Philadelphia 76ers, who have split their previous three away games.
