Farmers' protest: partial reopening of the Singhu and Tikri crossings in Delhi



February 13 saw the sealing of both borders as Punjabi farmers protesting for a minimum support price (MSP) for crops and the remission of agricultural loans began the 'Delhi Chalo' march.


Approximately 200 kilometers from Delhi, along the Punjab-Haryana border near Ambala, thousands of farmers have set up camp when security officers thwarted their march.


Shortly after the farmers' 'Delhi Chalo' march, over two weeks ago, authorities in this city started the process of partly reopening the Singhu and Tikri crossings with Haryana on Saturday, according to officials.


According to a Delhi Police officer, two service lanes are being established to facilitate vehicle traffic: one at the Singhu border and one at the Tikri border. Those traveling from Delhi to Haryana will find respite with the opening of the Singhu and Tikri crossings.
