What you need to know about whether or not NRIs may get Aadhaar

"For NRIs, the Indian government has modified the Aadhaar card regulations to enable them to apply at the time of arrival. NRIs may prove their identity, residence, and date of birth using a valid Indian passport.

"In India, government-issued Adhaar cards are used as identification and address evidence. An adult or juvenile Indian who does not live in the country may also own an Aadhar card. The Indian government modified the Aadhaar card requirements for non-resident Indians (NRIs) in July 2019. Formerly, NRIs needed to have lived in India for a minimum of 182 days in order to apply for an Aadhaar card.

But as of late, the government has let NRIs to apply for an Aadhaar card when they arrive.

Consequently, the below process shall be adhered to for NRI Aadhaar enrollment:

1. A valid Indian passport may be used as documentation for the Date of Birth (DOB), Proof of Identity (POI), and Proof of Address (POA). The address provided will get an Aadhaar letter. The C/O box is where the applicant may insert the name of a parent, guardian, or spouse if they would want it to appear in the address.

2. The NRI may provide any other POA document that has been certified by UIDAI as proof of address if their passport does not show an Indian address.

3. Aadhaar Center verifiers will make sure that the NRI enrollment processes mentioned above are followed. This problem is with the permission of CEO, UIDAI.
