Delhi's schools will return on Monday, however the hours have been adjusted.

As soon as the prolonged winter break ends, Delhi schools will resume for regular sessions. However, due to the persistent cold snap and fog, the start time of classes has been adjusted.

According to a Sunday directive from the education department, no class will meet before 9 a.m. and no class will meet after 5 p.m. According to the directive, all employees—teaching and non-teaching—must report for duty on time.

It is mandated that all pupils enrolled in government-run, government-aided, and accredited private schools resume courses in person on Monday, January 15, 2024. Nursery, KG, and primary classrooms are also included in this," the directive said.

However, due to the current hazy circumstances, lessons will not be conducted after 5 p.m. until further instructions, and no school, including double shift schools, will start before 9 a.m.

It is mandated that on Monday, January 15, 2024, all students enrolled in government-aided, government-recognized private schools would resume their lessons in person. This also applies to KG, primary, and nursery classrooms," the directive said.

In light of the current cold wave conditions in the nation's capital, Delhi Education Minister Atishi said on January 7 that winter holidays will be extended till January 12. Atishi had said on Twitter, "Due to the prevailing cold, schools in Delhi is going to stay closed for students from nursery to class 5 for the next 5 days."

Today was the coldest morning of the winter season in the nation's capital, with a low of only 3.5 degrees Celsius. In the Lodhi Road vicinity, the temperature fell even lower to 3.4 degrees Celsius.

Most of Delhi-NCR was covered in dense fog, with zero visibility on the highways.
