On Monday, Maruti Suzuki India said that, for December 2023, total sales decreased by 1.28 percent to 1,37,551 units.

According to a statement from Maruti Suzuki India, total domestic sales, which include sales of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and third-party supplies, were 1,10,667 units this month compared to 1,17,551 units in the same time last year, a decrease of 5.86 percent.
"For the first time, the company exceeded the annual sales barrier of 2 million units in calendar year 2023, including its biggest-ever calendar year exports of 2,69,046 units," stated the statement.
In December 2023, there were 1,04,778 domestic passenger vehicle (PV) sales, down 6.46 percent from 1,12,010 units in the same month the previous year.
Sales of entry-level minicars, such as the Alto and S-Presso, fell to 2,557 from 9,765 units in the previous year.
Comparably, the firm said that sales of small cars—which include the Baleno, Celerio, Dezire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, and WagonR—dropped from 57,502 units in December 2022 to 45,741 units in December 2023.
However, sales of utility vehicles, which include the Jimny, S-Cross, XL6, Grand Vitara, Ertiga, Frontex, Brezza, and Invicto, were 45,957 last month compared to 33,008 during the same time previous year.
The company's van Eeco had a little decrease in sales to 10,034 units from 10,581 units in December 2022, while sales of its mid-size car Ciaz remained at 489 units last month compared to 1,154 units in the same month last year.
According to Maruti Suzuki, its exports increased last month from 21,796 units to 26,884 units in December 2022.
