Mild snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir's Gurez area

In Jammu and Kashmir's Gurez region of the Bandipora district, there was new snowfall. Following this, the valley's protracted dry season came to an end, and several locations had a few degree rise in the lowest temperature. The gloomy sky caused an increase in lowest temperatures in numerous areas of the valley. The temperature at night was several degrees higher than usual. In December, Jammu and Kashmir had a 79% rainfall deficit. Even in the first week of January, there was no rain. Currently, Kashmir is experiencing Chilla Kalan, a 40-day period of extreme cold. At this time of year, the region experiences a cold wave and a sharp decrease in temperature, which causes water to freeze in pipes and water sources. The likelihood of precipitation is high during this time, and most places—especially those at higher elevations—get a lot of snowfall.
