 Today's 7.6-magnitude earthquake near Mindanao, Philippines, has prompted a tsunami warning


Following a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 that struck the Philippines on Saturday, a tsunami warning has been issued.


On Saturday, a powerful earthquake that had a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 on the Richter scale occurred near Mindanao, Philippines. A tsunami alert was sent out for the island country right after the earthquake.


At 10:37 p.m., an earthquake in the southern Philippine island of Mindanao was felt. As to the news agency Associated Press report, the measurement was taken at a medium depth of 32 kilometers, or 20 miles.


According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, portions of Indonesia, Malaysia, and the southern Philippines might possibly be struck by tsunami waves, depending on the magnitude and position of the earthquake.


The Philippine government has ordered inhabitants of the provinces of Surigao del Sur and Davao Oriental on Mindanao's east coast to leave their houses right once and either migrate inland or to higher ground due to the current scenario.
