Senior people in India used to get discounted rates on all special express train categories from IRCTC. Senior citizens over 60 and female senior passengers over 58 were eligible for fare concessions on Duronto, Shatabdi, Jan Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Mail, and Express train tickets till the end of 2019. Senior women were entitled to a 50% discount on rail tickets, but senior men were only eligible for a 40% discount.


Seniors' demand for a discount on rail tickets to be reinstated


Seniors may get a 40–50% reduction on rail ticket rates before the end of 2019. The older person may be able to purchase an AC ticket for Rs 2,000 or Rs 2,300 if the first Rajdhani ticket costs Rs 4,000. Then, when Covid expanded across the nation and the globe between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, this service was no longer offered via the IRCTC ticket buying window. Seniors are now hopeful that this exclusive budgetary discount will be reinstated.
