With Cyclone Michong on alert, sections of Tamil Nadu are still experiencing intense rains, with further heavy downpours expected in some regions. Here is a list of the places that are under a heavy rain warning:

Parts of Tamil Nadu are still experiencing heavy rainfall due to Cyclone Michong's threat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow and orange warnings in some places due to its prediction of very heavy to extremely severe rainfall in certain portions of the state on Friday.

The IMD predicts that Vellore, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai, Kallakkurichi, Cuddalore, and Kanchipuram will likely get significant rainfall. In the meanwhile, the remaining areas of the state might see thunderstorms and lightning.

A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal strengthened into cyclonic storm 'Michong' (pronounced Migjaum), while high tide was seen near Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu. The news agency PTI reports that Chengalpattu's rice crop has also been harmed by the intense rainfall.

On December 5, Cyclone Michong is expected to strike close to the Andhra coast. It is moving over the Bay of Bengal and is expected to pass across the southern and northern beaches of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu on December 4 in the evening.

"At 0530 hours IST on December 3, over the same area about 300 km east-southeast of Puducherry, 310 km southeast of Chennai, 440 km southeast of Nellore, and 550 km south-southeast of Machilipatnam, the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal intensified into a cyclonic storm Michong," the IMD reported on X.

With gusts of up to 100 km/h, Cyclone Michong, which is building over the Bay of Bengal, is expected to make landfall between Nellore and Machilipatnam on Tuesday morning, according to the Meteorological Department.

For the next twelve hours, the beaches of Andhra Pradesh and the neighboring northern Tamil Nadu have been placed under a cyclone warning by the India Meteorological Department.

Meteorologists warned of extensive rainfall for numerous parts of southern and eastern India due to the cyclonic storm hanging over the south-west Bay of Bengal. Starting on Friday, there will be more rain in most areas, with some seeing strong to very heavy downpours. On December 5, there's a chance of severe to very heavy rain in certain areas, but it should clear up after that.
