Mapperley: A vehicle struck Santa's elf, sending it to the hospital

One of Santa's elves gets struck by a vehicle and requires surgery while he is working for charity.

The elf had shattered bones as a consequence of injuries sustained while riding with a sleigh on Porchester Road in Mapperley, Nottingham.

Every year, the Gedling and District Round Table organizes Santa to do a sleigh tour of the neighborhoods while collecting donations for charitable organizations.

The group has advised the public to exercise caution while approaching sleds.

"This time of year, when it gets dark so early, is a challenge for all road users and pedestrians," a representative said.

"We would like to remind everyone to exercise caution and extra vigilance—not just when sleighs are involved, but also when kids are returning from school and when the numerous people who live in our communities are going about their daily lives."

Sleigh run goes underway

On Monday night, a vehicle struck Yogini.

Santa and the other elves "continued the sleigh race last night with their good wishes as he was taken to the hospital," according to the spokeswoman.

During their sleigh run last year, Gedling and District Round Table collected over £4,000.
