Madhya Pradesh's new chief minister, Mohan Yadav, will take the oath of office; PM Modi and Amit Shah will be there
Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Deora, the two deputy chief ministers, will also serve the state. Along with Yadav, state BJP head Vishnu Dutt Sharma said he will also take an oath of office.
According to a party official, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and chief ministers of states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party would be present when Mohan Yadav takes the oath of office as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.
Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Deora, the two deputy chief ministers, will also serve the state. Along with Yadav, state BJP head Vishnu Dutt Sharma said he will also take an oath of office.
Following a review of the event's preparations, Sharma and outgoing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan informed reporters on Tuesday that comprehensive plans had been made for the swearing-in ceremony, which would take place at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal at 11.30 am.
"Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, chief ministers of several BJP-ruled states and Union ministers will attend the swearing-in ceremony," Sharma said.
According to Chouhan, it is his responsibility as acting chief minister to ensure that all necessary arrangements are done for the swearing-in event.
According to a BJP spokesman, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath would also be present at the event.
Many Bharatiya Janata Party activists, particularly from Yadav's birthplace of Ujjain, are anticipated to attend the function, according to party sources.
After weeks of speculation, the BJP on Monday named Yadav as the state's next chief minister, averting the party's longtime leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan from winning an unprecedented fifth term.
During a meeting on Monday, Yadav (58), a minister in the Chauhan administration, was unanimously chosen to head the BJP legislative party.
The next Speaker of the Assembly will be Narendra Singh Tomar, a senior BJP politician and recently elected MLA who is running for chief minister.
Yadav is seen as being connected to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and is a member of the Other Backward Class (OBC), which makes up more than 48% of the state's population. He was not considered a strong candidate for the top position.
Yadav met with Governor Mangubhai Patel on Monday after being designated the chief minister-designate, asserting his right to lead the future administration.
2013 saw Yadav's first election as an MLA from the Ujjain South seat. He was able to hold onto the assembly seat in both 2018 and 2023.
With 163 of the 230 assembly seats in the state won by the BJP in the previous month's assembly elections, the Congress was forced to settle for second place with 66 seats.
