The Safari and Harrier received a total score of 44.54 out of a possible 49 for kid safety.

On December 15, formal testing commenced once the India NCAP crash tests were fully finished and operational. The first round of test results for the newly redesigned Tata Safari and Tata Harrier have been made public by the authority, and both SUVs have received five stars. The vehicles received five stars for both adult and kid safety when they were evaluated under the Global New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) guidelines, about a month ago.

The Global NCAP and India NCAP have very comparable scores. The Safari and Harrier received 33.05 out of a possible 34 points for adult occupant protection in the Global NCAP crash test, while the SUV received 30.08 out of a possible 32 points in the B-NCAP crash test. The study states that the crash test dummy showed adequate head, knee, and leg protection for the driver and passenger.

The driver's chest showed acceptable protection for the right tibia and only moderate protection for the chest, although the passenger dummy likewise showed decent protection for the tibia and chest. The dummy showed excellent overall safety in both the side pole impact test and the side moveable deformable barrier test.

There are not many changes between side and frontal crash testing conducted by GNCAP and BNCAP. The GNCAP side pole impact test, however, showed that the chest was very little protected while the abdomen was well protected.

Similar to the GNCAP score, the Safari and Harrier received a total score of 44.54 out of 49 for child safety, or a rating of five stars.

The 2.0-liter Kryotec engine powers the Tata Harrier and Tata Safari. The highest power output of this four-cylinder engine is 170 horsepower, and the maximum torque is 350 Nm. There are two different transmission options: a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 6-speed manual shifter. Regarding security measures, both vehicles are equipped with six airbags as standard equipment and a seventh knee airbag on higher model levels. A 360-degree camera, ABS, ESC, ISOFIX child seat anchors, emergency call/breakdown button, and other safety measures are included. Both SUVs' higher trim levels are equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that provide extra safety features including lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, frontal collision warning, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, and blind spot detection.

This is the first exam that India NCAP is doing right now. More Indian automobiles will be put through testing by the crash test authority in the next days and months, and the findings should soon be posted on the official website.
