According to Gadkari, the government has also permitted the conversion of current polluting cars into hybrid and all-electric models.


According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, India is anticipated to sell one crore electric cars (EVs) year and generate over five crore employment in the sector by 2030.


"According to the vehicle database, 34.54 lakh EVs are already registered in India," Gadkari said during the 19th EV Expo in 2023. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways emphasized that India has the capacity to overtake all other nations in the world as the leading producer of electric vehicles (EVs) and that the government is dedicated to establishing India as a leader in the production of clean energy and its widespread use.


According to Gadkari, the government has also permitted the conversion of current polluting cars into hybrid and all-electric models.


He said that the technology had been effectively demonstrated and that the regulations had been established.


According to him, public transportation and logistics will switch to electric vehicles.
