According to the Israeli military, Hamas is holding 242 persons as hostages.


Israeli soldiers have liberated four captives and released one more. On October 29, Ori Megidish, an Israeli soldier, was let free during ground operations in Gaza. On Monday, October 24, two women, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifschitz, were let free. Two US captives, a mother and her daughter, were also released on Friday, October 20.


According to Hamas, the captives are stashed in "safe places and tunnels" in Gaza. 20 youngsters and ten to twenty people over 60 are among the captives, according to prior statements made by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).


Some families have received notification from the IDF that their loved ones are being kept captive, while other families, whose relatives have not been found, think they have been abducted.


These are the accounts of the captives captured from Israel on October 7th that the BBC has either verified or found to be credible.


This hostage situation is the worst Israel has ever seen.

As some persons who felt they were abducted are proved to have been murdered or freed, names on this list may change on a regular basis.


Lena Trupanov, 50, Daniele Alony Mevneh, 44, and 36-year-old Rimon Buchshtab Kirsht made an appearance in a captive film that Hamas published on October 30.


According to a statement released by Canada's Raoul Wallenburg Center for Human Rights, Alexander Trupanov, Lena's son, his boyfriend Sapir Cohen, 29, and his grandma Irina Tati, 73, were all kidnapped from Nir Oz when they were spending the Sabbath together.


As the Nir Oz kibbutz was being assaulted by Hamas, Ophelia Roitman, 77, sent a telegram begging for assistance. In a video, her daughter said that although other remains had been discovered during a later search of her home, she remained missing and is believed to have been stolen.


29-year-old Shani Goren was abducted from her Nir Oz home and was subsequently seen by relatives in a Hamas video that was uploaded. After being kidnapped, the granddaughter of Uruguayan nationals was awarded citizenship, and Uruguay has informed local media that it is attempting to secure her return.


Daniele Alony Mevneh is being detained together with her five-year-old daughter Amelia Mevneh, her husband David Cunio, 33, sister Sharon Alony Cunio, 34, and their twin kids, Emma and Julie, who are three years old. According to CNN, Moran, the brother of Sharon and Daniele, they were taken from a kibbutz located in southern Israel. Moran claimed to have been informed by a witness that the family had sought refuge in a safe place, but that when Hamas set fire to the home, they fled and were captured.


It is also believed that Ariel Cunio, his girlfriend Arbel Yahud, and her cousin Dolev were kidnapped during the same raid on Kibbutz Nir Oz. The last thing Ariel stated to Eitan Cunio, the brother of Ariel and David Cunio who managed to escape Hamas, was, "We are in a horror movie."


In a video, Naama Levy, 19, is seen having her wrists bound behind her back as she is thrown into a vehicle. After being made public by Hamas, the video became viral on social media. Her mother said that the adolescent had just started her military duty.


On October 7, during the assault, 19-year-old Noa Marciano was talking to her mother Adi on the phone. Adi informed reporters that a week later, Hamas had published a photo of Noa handcuffed.


Prior to going missing, Gelienor Leano Pacheco, 33, a Filipino caregiver and father of three, had been employed in Israel for five years, according to his spouse Clarisse. There are allegations on the internet that he was present at the Nir Oz kibbutz when Hamas attacked. Clarisse claimed to have witnessed footage of her husband being dragged into a car on social media.


On November 9th, Islamic Jihad published a film featuring Hanna Katsir, a 77-year-old captive. She may be seen speaking to the camera while seated in a wheelchair in it. On October 7, she was taken from Kibbutz Nir Oz.


According to his family, Michel Nisenbaum,59, is a computer specialist who has lived in Israel for 45 years and is a dual citizen of Brazil and Israel, as reported by Brazilian media. They further claim that he has Crohn's disease and is diabetic. They said they attempted to contact him on October 7th, but someone answered the phone pretending to be from Hamas.


According to the Irish embassy in Israel, Emily Hand, 8, went missing from Kibbutz Be'eri and is now thought to have been abducted, as Irish station RTÉ reported. At first, Emily's father Tom Hand had been informed that she had died.


Daniela Gilboa, 19, requested her mother to pray for her in a message stating that the Nahal Oz kibbutz, where she was residing, was being attacked. Roy Dadon, her boyfriend, claimed to have caught a glimpse of her on a video that showed three females being transported away in the back of an SUV, according to the Economist 1843 magazine.


His niece recognized Dror Kaplun, 68, as the guy being brought away by Hamas in a footage during the assault on the Be'eri kibbutz. Dror is still missing, but his wife Marcelle Frailich Kaplun—who was also in the video—was subsequently discovered to have died.


The 19-year-old US-Israeli citizen Edan Alexander went to high school in New Jersey. His relatives informed the local media that he chose to enlist in the Israeli army after graduating. When Hamas attacked, he was serving close to the Gaza border. According to Edan's family, they were informed by Israeli authorities that he had been taken as a captive to Gaza.


Online reports state that Arie Zalmanovich, who is in his mid-eighties, was a resident of the Nir Oz kibbutz. His family claims that since October 7th, they have not heard from him.


Ilana Gritzewsky's father claims that on October 7, she and her companion Matan Zanguaker were kidnapped from the Nir Oz kibbutz. Matan is an Israeli citizen, while Ilana is a native of Mexico.


The Associated Press was informed by Chen Almog-Goldstein's family that she and her children, Tal, 9, Gal, 11, and Agam, 17, had been kidnapped from their residences in the Kfar Aza kibbutz. Terrorists from Hamas assassinated Chen's spouse Nadav and their daughter Yam, who was 20 years old.


At the time of the incident, Eitan Horn, 45, and his 45-year-old brother Yair, both residents of Argentina, were also present at the Nir Oz kibbutz. Itzik, their father, said that he thinks they were abducted. Eitan works in teaching, while Yair works in construction.


38-year-old Itai Svirsky is believed to have been kidnapped after the death of his aging parents in Kibbutz Be'eri. He had been spending the Simhat Torah vacation with them.


Before being abducted, Elma Avraham, 84, had resided in the Nahal Oz kibbutz for over 50 years, according to a communal representative. The representative also said that she saw footage of the hostage-takers driving her away.


According to Keith's brother Lee Seigel, 64, and his wife Adrienne, 62, also known as Aviva, were seized from their Kibbutz Kfar Aza home.


The family of 33-year-old father of two Oren Goldin told Israel's Channel 13 that he was abducted from the Nir Yitzhak kibbutz. He had gone outside with the kibbutz security crew in an attempt to ward off the Hamas assault.


Friends and relatives report that Nili Margalit, a 41-year-old nurse, was abducted from her Nir Oz kibbutz house. Yocheved Lifschitz, a prisoner who was eventually freed, is said to have informed them that she had recognized Nili when she was being held captive.


The second member of the Nir Yitzhak security crew, 41-year-old Israeli-Romanian citizen Tal Haimi, did not come back with the others. His spouse expressed to Romanian TV her tenacity in believing he was being held captive.


Following the assault on kibbutz Be'eri, Shiri Weiss, 53, Ilan Weiss, 58, and their daughter Noga, 18, have gone missing. Ilan did not come back after the last time he was observed leaving the home to protect the kibbutz. According to a family video message, Shiri was apprehended while Noga hid beneath the bed until Hamas-caused flames drove her out and abducted her as well. One might watch Noga's WhatsApp live position shifting in the direction of Gaza.


According to their daughter-in-law Noa, Amiram Cooper, 85, and his wife Nurit, 80, were seized from their Kibbutz Nir Oz, a kibbutz in southern Israel near Gaza. Noa said that the couple was in their safe room when the family last talked to them, during the Hamas onslaught. Afterwards, the family located Gaza on Amiram's phone. Nurit was one of two women freed on Monday, October 23.


From Kibbutz Nir Oz, Oded Lifshitz, 83, and his wife Yocheved, 85, were kidnapped. Yocheved was one of two elderly ladies who were sent free on Monday, October 23. "While I cannot put into words the relief that she had is now safe, I will remain determined to succeed in securing the release of my father along with all those - approximately 200 innocent people - who remain hostages in Gaza," their daughter Sharone, an artist living in London, mentioned upon learning of her mother's release.


When the IDF facility at Erez Crossing—the only land bridge between Israel and Gaza—came under assault, 19-year-old Nik Beizer was there on duty. His mother, Ekaterina, told the Jerusalem Post that she had recognized him from a Hamas-posted video on a Telegram group in Arabic.


According to the Times of Israel, 79-year-old Haim Peri was snatched from his Kibbutz Nir Oz house and released as a captive. According to Yocheved Lifshitz, she noticed that he was still living. Before turning himself in to kidnappers, Haim reportedly locked his wife inside the safe room, according to his son Lior Peri, who spoke with Talk TV.


While one parent is saved, the other is still under Hamas's control.

Israeli authorities claim that Ohad Munder-Zichri, 9, his mother Keren Munder, 54, and his grandparents, Ruthi and Avraham Munder, 78, were abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz. According to the Associated Press, a phone signal has been identified as coming from Gaza.


Omer Neutra, an Israeli-American who is 22 years old and the grandson of Holocaust survivors, decided to study in Israel instead of attending college in the US and subsequently enlisted in the IDF. When Hamas invaded, he was stationed close to Gaza as a tank commander. According to the Israeli embassy, he was abducted, his parents informed CBS.


It is thought that the following individuals were abducted from Kibbutz Nir Yitzhak: Clara Marman, 62, her companion Louis Har, her siblings Gabriela Leimberg and Fernando Simon Marman, as well as Gabriela's adolescent daughter Mia Leimberg. The daughter of Louis Har was messaging him; she said the gang of five Argentinian-Israelis had been sheltering in their safe room. According to the Times of Israel, the last transmission arrived at 11:04. According to Vatican News, Maayan Sigal-Koren, Clara's daughter, said that they were informed by the Israeli army that their phones had been traced to Gaza.
