According to the ED, Amit Katyal, who was recently detained in connection with a money laundering case involving purported land for railroad employment, purchased many parcels of property from candidates on behalf of Lalu Prasad Yadav, the former Union Railway Minister and leader of the RJD. On November 11, Katyal was first imprisoned and then taken into custody in accordance with the PMLA.

On November 11, the central agency detained and then arrested Katyal in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). He was then placed in the agency's custody until November 16 by a Delhi municipal court. According to the Enforcement Directorate, throughout the course of the inquiry, it was discovered that Katyal was the director of AK Infosystems Private Limited, a firm that had purchased property from the candidates on Lalu Prasad's behalf.

Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family reside in D-1088, New Friends Colony, New Delhi, which is the company's registered location. The agency said that Lalu Prasad Yadav gave him unfair advantages while he was the Railway Minister in a statement released on Monday.
It said that in 2014, after the acquisition of the land, Lalu Prasad's family received shares in the aforementioned firm. The agency conducted a raid on Katyal's facilities in March. In addition to Lalu Prasad's properties, Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, his daughters, and other individuals' premises were also covered at this time.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo's close aide, Katyal, has been eluding the ED's summons for interrogation for about two months, the agency claims. Tejashwi Yadav was residing at AK Infosystems Private Limited's registered address in south Delhi's New Friends Colony, according to a previous allegation made by the ED that the business is an accused beneficiary in the case.

The ED case, which is registered under the PMLA's criminal provisions, is the result of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) complaint. The CBI claims that while there was no public notice or advertising for the recruitment, several Patna residents were named officiators in other zonal railroads in Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur.
