 SC requests that AAP MP Raghav Chadha provide the RS chairman an unconditional apology for the indefinite ban


Attorney General R Venkataramani was directed by a bench made up of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, to inform them of any updates on the case during the Diwali break.


The Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar was urged by the Supreme Court on Friday to accept an unequivocal apology from AAP MP Raghav Chadha on the select committee problem. The court anticipated that Dhankhar would show compassion for the situation.

According to the CJI, the legislator must meet with the chairman of the Rajya Sabha in order to provide an unqualified apologies for the incident. In response, the vice president could adopt a compassionate stance toward the situation as a whole and take more action in this area. Since August 11, Chadha has been suspended after a number of MPs—the bulk of whom are members of the governing BJP—accused him of signing their names to a motion without getting their permission.


A select committee was to be established to look at the controversial Delhi Services Bill.


The Punjabi Rajya Sabha MP was accused of introducing a proposal to submit the Delhi Services Bill to a select committee. It was stated that he had designated some politicians as members of the planned committee, and that some of the MPs had not approved of it.


The chairman took notice of the allegation and placed Chadha on leave while the Committee on Privileges conducted an investigation.
