Samsung introduces Samsung Gauss, a competing AI model to ChatGPT. What you need to know

Samsung, a Korean smartphone manufacturer, debuted Samsung Gauss, a collection of generative AI models, during its AI Forum 2023. Three tools make up Gauss, which was created by Samsung Research: Samsung Gauss Language, a generative AI model; Samsung Gauss Code, a coding assistance; and Samsung Gauss Image, an image generator and editor.

The generative AI model "is designated for Carl Friedrich Gauss, the famous mathematician who established average distribution theory, the backbone of neural networks and AI," according to a blog post by Samung on the recent releases.

The business said that operations like writing emails, summarizing papers, and translating information may be assisted by Samsung Gauss language, a big language model that can respond to queries similar to ChatGPT or other chatbots on the market.

Through a "interactive interface," Samsung Gauss Code supports features including code description and test case creation, making it easy and fast for developers to create code.

Samsung Gauss Image may be used to create and modify photographs, assisting with tasks such as converting low-resolution images to high-resolution and making stylistic adjustments.

Executive Vice President Daehyun Kim of Samsung Research worldwide AI Center said, "We will continue for backing and collaborate with both academia and the private sector on generative AI research," during the company's AI Summit 2023. stated E. Daehyun Kim

In the first half of 2024, Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S 24 series, which will have Samsung Gauss, a new artificial intelligence that generates model, according to a report from Korea Times.

Although Gauss is just being used to track staff productivity for now, the Korean tech giant intimated that it may soon be "expanded to a variety of Samsung product implementations to provide new user experience."
