On stage, Vivek Ramaswamy requests Ronna McDaniel, the chair of the RNC, step down: "We've turned into a losers' party."

After Tuesday's election results, Republican presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy said that the GOP had turned into a “party of losers.”

Following Tuesday, November 7 election results, Republican contender for president Vivek Ramaswamy said that the GOP had turned into a “party of losers”. He said that there is a "cancer" in the Republican Party mainstream at the third Republican presidential debate in Miami, and then he held Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Ronna McDaniel responsible for the party's defeats.

In the end, we've turned into a loser party," Vivek said. On stage, he made Ronna step down.

Prior to making his "cancer" comment, he said, "I think there is anything deeper going on in the Republican party here, which is why I am upset about what happened last night." "Let us express the reality. We have not seen a red wave that never materialized since Ronna McDaniel became the RNC chairwoman in 2017. We have lost in 2018, 2020, and 2022.

Vivek went on, "We got hammered last night in 2023, and I think we currently have to have accountability in our party," before requesting Ronnaon's resignation from the debating platform.

Vivek posted a tape of this section of the discussion on X and said, "It's the Republican Establishment that has turned us into a loser party. I'm tired of it." For years of losing—2018, 2020, 2022, and last night—where is the accountability? Tonight, I'm requesting that @GOPChairwoman step down.

Ronna was re-elected in January of this year to a fourth term in office, having garnered the endorsement of over two-thirds of the RNC membership. Ronna was endorsed by former President Donald Trump in her 2017 campaign to become the party leader. Trump, meanwhile, maintained his neutrality in the RNC chair contest, stating that Ronna and Harmeet Dhillon would have to "fight it out."

On Wednesday, November 8, in Miami, the Republican contenders for president, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, Chris Christie, and Tim Scott, will square off for the third time. The discussion started at 8:00 p.m. ET and may be seen in Spanish on Universo and on your local NBC station, NBC News Now.
