Chris Cooper, Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue: About 5–6 meters to go
Uttarakhand. Chris Cooper, a specialist in micro tunneling, said that the rescue effort yesterday night proceeded flawlessly. We have traveled fifty meters. There are perhaps 5–6 meters remaining to go; there were no barriers last night. We are making progress that is constructive, and it feels fantastic.

The Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue is still being dug by hand. The first video showing actual hand digging inside the tunnel has surfaced. The pipe is being installed inside using an auger machine. About two meters of hand drilling have been completed so far.
