Karnataka will introduce a strategy of preferred public procurement to assist entrepreneurs

By the following year, Priyank Kharge, the minister of IT and BT for Karnataka, plans to form a Global Innovation Alliance in collaboration with 50 nations.

It is anticipated that the government of Karnataka would introduce a policy on preferential public procurement with the goal of promoting startup assistance.

Speaking at the state government-organized 'Big Tech Show' in Mysuru, Karnataka's IT-BT minister, Priyank Kharge, stated: "We are currently working on developing a preferential public procurement policy in addition to our sector-specific ease of doing business initiatives." This strategy aims to provide government assistance for companies who actively participate in 'Beyond Bengaluru' activities and have registered their distinctive intellectual property with our startup cell. Under this concept, the Karnataka government may become the first client, making it easier to purchase goods and services with distinctive intellectual property."

The Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) hosted the 'Big Tech Show 2023' at the Infosys campus in Mysuru. The cybersecurity and semiconductor industries, particularly Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), are positioning Mysuru as their new global headquarters.

Kharge said, "A third of India's IT talent resides in Karnataka. In the ecosystem, we are now fostering 25,000 businesses, of which the Karnataka government is supporting 15,000 of them."

He said, "For the inaugural occasion in the country, we are establishing a Skill Council of Advisors for cutting-edge technologies in order to offer the skills that our country needs."We have specialized Centers of Excellence for semiconductor fabrication, AI, cybersecurity, IoT, robotics, and animation. We want to establish more centers of excellence in the areas of manufacturing, fintech, biotech, gaming, health science, med tech, and manufacturing by the end of this fiscal year. These centers will be overseen by professionals in the relevant industries. These facilities will foster ideas and inventions.

By the next year, he added, they want to have partnered with over 50 nations as part of a Global Innovation Alliance. Through networking opportunities with businesses overseas, this program will help our entrepreneurs get access to markets and collaborate with different ecosystems. Our objective with the Global Innovation Alliance is not just to share ideas but also to establish global capacity centers and specialized economic corridors for startups that will benefit different ecosystems, like the cybersecurity and marine biotech corridors."

"Mysuru has set up itself as a city that strikes a harmonious balance amongst technology economy electronics," said BV Naidu, chairman of KDEM. Remarkably, more than ten eminent companies have shown their want to participate in this change. The fact that Mysuru contributed 2000 crore to the defense offset highlights its increasing importance."
