Speaking on the fringes of the logistics conference hosted by the MCCI in this city on November 10, state transport secretary Saumitra Mohan estimated that over the course of the next three years, overall investment in the logistics industry would come to around Rs 5,000 crore. According to him, the state may need to spend around Rs 1,800 crore to put out its 1,200 electric bus plan, with each vehicle costing roughly Rs 1.5 crore.


He also discussed the state's current Rs 1,100 crore World Bank project, which involves developing and modernizing ghats and jetties. He said that the state also plans to build 100 new jetties to increase river transportation and tourism.


According to him, the government is also organizing river vessel operations in different places and providing funding for the effective transportation of automobiles, trucks, buses, and trailers, with an emphasis on roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) services. According to representatives of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI), a significant amount of capital is being invested in the inland waterways industry, including new ships and multimodal facilities connected to the Northeast via the Indo-Bangladesh protocol route.


Yatish Kumar, the CMD of Braithwaite & Co., emphasized the company's recent efforts, which include the transportation of food grains at a lower cost and have the potential to revolutionize the logistics industry.
