 In India, Amazon starts a program for electric car delivery.


The firm has launched Mahindra Zor Grand three-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs) in the first phase of the program. These vehicles are specially designed for Amazon's last-mile deliveries.


Amazon, an online retailer, has started a last-mile fleet program with all electric cars in India. As part of this initiative, it will provide its delivery service providers access to specially designed EVs that are appropriate for last-mile deliveries. The firm has launched Mahindra Zor Grand three-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs) in the first phase of the program. These vehicles are specially designed for Amazon's last-mile deliveries.


According to the corporation, the initiative will assist more than 300 delivery service partners (DSPs) in providing client deliveries with zero tailpipe emissions. "Amazon's fleet strategy is launching for the very first time with entirely custom-designed Electrons in India, making it convenient for Digital Signal Processors to access safe, high-quality zero-emissions automobiles for last mile deliveries," the company said in a statement.


According to the announcement, DSPs may access tailored EVs that are appropriate for last-mile delivery via India's all-electric fleet initiative, which also offers maintenance, charging, and parking. Amazon plans to include a significant portion of last-mile delivery vans in the program over the course of the next two years, ultimately covering all last-mile vehicles.


Amazon has used more than 6,000 electric cars to deliver items in more than 400 Indian locations today, with assistance from Mahindra Electric and other automakers. According to the statement, "the company has been thoroughly on its way to achieve its goal of incorporating 10,000 electric vehicles in its fleet in India by 2025." The initiative is expected to assist the corporation in reaching its worldwide objective of having net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.


"The India fleet launches because of the busy Diwali season, with additional electric three- and four-wheelers will be extended to the fleet over time," stated the statement. This campaign has been run by Amazon throughout Europe and North America.
