I leave it up to each person: Chris Gopalakrishnan, a co-founder of Infosys, discusses working 70 hours a week
Gopalakrishnan's remarks coincide with the controversy surrounding Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy's assertion that young people should labor 70 hours a week on Indian internet forums.
Chris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of Infosys, has voiced his opinions on the recent discussion over India's young working 70 hours a week, stating that each person's situation is unique. In addition to working seventy hours a week, Gopalakrishnan said that India needed to spend more in research and increase work productivity.
"I'll let each person handle it. India has a lot of work to do. We must recruit more scientists. Seventy hours is one area where we need to conduct more investigation, from the lab to the market," he told Moneycontrol. on November 15 at the Infosys Awards event in Bengaluru.
Gopalakrishnan's remarks coincide with the controversy surrounding Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy's assertion that young people should labor 70 hours a week on Indian internet forums.
According to Murthy, in order for India's young to compete with economies that have advanced significantly over the last two to three decades, they must put in 70 hours of effort every week.
Gopalakrishnan acknowledged that he had to put in 70 hours a week at work.
"I don't know how many hours I work, it must be 70 hours," he said.
