 SHRESTHA education program: Be aware of perks, requirements, and other information

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in India has introduced a new initiative called "Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas" (SHRESHTA) to guarantee that schoolchildren get high-quality instruction. 

Students from Scheduled Castes (SC) will get a top-notch education via various means under this program. Additionally, it will assist the government in broadening the scope of its educational development programs in SC-predominant regions.

The program will be implemented at a few residential high schools that provide top-notch education and grant-in-aid institutions administered by non-governmental organizations (NGOs)

There are two SHRESHTA school types.

Private Residential Schools with State Board and CBSE Affiliated:

Meritorious pupils would be admitted using this technique to certain private CBSE and State Board institutions. The National Testing Agency (NTA)'s National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA (NETS), which will be used to choose these pupils.

In the ninth and eleventh grades, chosen pupils will be accepted to private residential schools, allowing them to finish their education up to the 12th standard.

Eligibility 

According to this program, around 3000 SC children whose parents earn up to 2.5 lakh in yearly income are chosen each year based on their merit.

-All expenses, including school fees (tuition fees) and hostel fees (mess charges), will be waived for students who enroll under this program.  According to the press release, the admissible fees for each class are as follows: 9th: $1,000,000; 10th: $110,000; 11th: $125,000; and 12th: $135,000.

-Within the chosen institutions, students may also benefit from a bridging course that focuses on their specific academic needs and helps them acclimate to the learning environment. The program also covers the cost of the bridge course, which is equal to 10% of the yearly fee. The Ministry of Education will continually monitor these kids' development under the program.

According to the announcement, schools and dormitories maintained by volunteer organizations (VOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) would provide instruction up to class 12.

Under this technique, grant-in-aid-receiving schools and hostels that are doing well will continue to gain advantages.
