Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut compares the BJP to Hamas and claims that it is the "party to which Assam CM belongs..."

On October 19, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut sparked another controversy by criticizing Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and equating his party, the Bhartiya Janata Party, with Hamas amid the current political turmoil in India over support for Israel. In his remark, he emphasized the previous prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's stance on the Palestine-Israel issue and suggested that the Assam chief minister learn and comprehend history first.

Israel-Hamas Conflict Live Updates:

Raut said in an interview with the news agency ANI that the Assam CM's party is on par with Hamas. He should read and comprehend history first. He should be aware of Atal Bihari Vajpayee's position on Palestine-Israel as he is a member of the BJP.

Following Sarma's response to Sharad Pawar's remark that it seemed the NCP leader would send Supriya Sule to Gaza to fight for Hamas, he made his remarks against the Assam chief minister. Sharad Pawar, the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), became embroiled in a debate after comments he made denouncing the Modi administration for supporting Israel. All prior Indian prime ministers, according to the NCP leader, "stood firmly with Palestine."

Sharad Pawar's comments on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Speaking to party members, the NCP leader said that India has always backed the cause of Palestine.

Everything there, including the buildings and land, belonged to Palestine until Israel seized control of it. The area was originally owned by Palestine, and Israel is an alien. Israel was created after incursion, according to Sharad Pawar, who was reported by India Today.

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict was a topic that Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee all agreed on. It has always been the Indian government's position. India has never supported any other party. India has always supported the Palestinians who originally owned the land and homes there, he added.

"It is really regrettable that our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) sided with Israel for the first time, ignoring the true situation there. He ignored the true problem. We must state our position clearly. The NCP's position ought to be obvious. We support the indigenous people of that territory," Pawar continued.
