Mumbai: Today, PM Modi will open the 141st meeting of the International Olympic Committee at the Jio World Centre

Today, October 14, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the 141st meeting of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.

Important decisions on the future of the Olympic Games are decided during the IOC session, which is a significant gathering of International Olympic Committee members. Almost 40 years have passed since the 86th IOC session was held in New Delhi in 1983, and this is India's second time hosting the IOC session.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), India's hosting of the 141st IOC Session demonstrates the nation's dedication to promoting international collaboration, honoring athletic achievement, and advancing the Olympic principles of friendship, respect, and excellence.

Various stakeholders in the sports industry may engage and share expertise via this event.

According to the press release, the session will be attended by IOC President Thomas Bach, other IOC members, notable Indian athletes, and officials from several sports federations, including the Indian Olympic Association.

On October 13, PM Modi also opened the ninth G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. The Indian Parliament hosted the P20 meeting as part of India's overall G20 Presidency. After the African Union joined the G20 in September, the Pan-African Parliament took part in the P20 Summit for the first time.

The P20 Summit's theme sessions focused on significant topics such accelerating the SDGs, women-led development, transformation in people's lives via public digital platforms, and sustainable energy transition.
