Today, October 22, people all around the nation are commemorating Durga Ashtami, the eighth day of Navratri. At the Jhadewalan temple in Delhi, a 'aarti' was conducted in the early morning. Numerous devotees flocked to the temple to participate in the 'aarti' and pray to Goddess Durga.


On the festival of "Maha Ashtami" or "Durga Ashtami," the chief minister of Bihar also offered prayers at the Shitala Mata shrine in Patna. 


Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent his best wishes for a joyful Durga Puja to his family members all around the nation in a tweet on X (previously Twitter). I pray to Maa Durga for everyone's happiness and health.




According to the Bihar chief minister, "I visited the Navyuvak Sangh Shri Durga Pandal, Durga Puja Samiti Khajpura pandal located on the "Dakbangla road" in Patna, and that Shri Shri Durga Puja Samiti's Durga Aashram Pandal in Patna's Sheikhpura upon the occasion of "Maha Saptami" and offered prayers for happiness, peace, and prosperity for the state.


Amit Shah, the home minister, also sent Durga Ashtami's best wishes to everyone in the nation. "Happy Durga Ashtami, everyone! Best wishes for the sacred occasion. "Jai Mata Di!" said the minister. 


According to Hindu mythology, the day of Maha Ashtami commemorates the defeat of the buffalo monster Mahishasura by Goddess Durga, who had been frightening both the gods and mortals. The gods had been unable to slay him.


As a result, they prayed to Goddess Durga, who engaged Mahishasura for nine days and nights. The monster was finally vanquished by Goddess Durga on the ninth day, and everyone rejoiced in the triumph of good over evil.


On Durga Ashtami, many devotees also fast, give prayers, and ask for blessings. Hindus all around the nation use flowers and lights to spruce up their houses. On Durga Ashtami, Hindus do kanya puja as well. On young females who have not yet attained puberty, kanjakiya or kanya puja is conducted.


The purest manifestation of the goddess is said to be those kanjas. Nine young girls are invited to devotees' homes where they are worshipped.
