Is Hardik Pandya ineligible to play in India's future matches in the ICC World Cup 2023? Rohit Sharma provides a major update
Due to an ankle injury, Hardik Pandya was forced to abandon India's game against Bangladesh at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. Following the game, Rohit Sharma made Pandya's condition public.
Although he made it clear that the damage was mild, the Indian captain insisted that further evaluations would be required. He said that daily monitoring was required for injuries like this. Sharma downplayed the incident, telling both fans and commentators that the talented all-rounder had not sustained any serious injuries.
"The fact that there isn't much damage is beneficial for us. However, with an injury like that, we must certainly analyze each day, and we will take whatever action is necessary, Sharma was cited as saying by ANI.
"All of us on the team have experienced such strain from large audiences. It is unique to us. The audience has not let us down, and I have no doubt that it will continue to grow and become more boisterous in the future.
Pandya sustained his injury in the game's ninth over. While trying to block a drive from Bangladeshi batsman Litton Das, Pandya lost his balance. He clumsily slid, putting stress on his left ankle. He seemed to be in discomfort, which prompted the ground medical staff to act right away.
When asked to bowl, Virat Kohli
The surprise, however, came when Rohit Sharma made the unexpected choice to ask Virat Kohli to bowl the last over. To complete the over, Kohli was called upon. Kohli's short appearance, in which he threw three balls and conceded only two runs, was his first in the 50-over format in six years.
India overcame Bangladesh by seven wickets, but it is still unclear how Pandya's health will play out in the long run. His health will be meticulously monitored in the lead-up to India's next important encounter against New Zealand since each game carries a significant amount of weight.
