According to Samir Arora, these three Indian stock market sectors constitute the foundation of every portfolio and will continue to be appealing

According to industry veteran and Helios Capital founder Samir Arora, financials, consumer, and information technology (IT) will continue to be appealing sectors over the medium term and should form the foundation of any portfolio.

Arora said in an interview with Mint that he has had zero to very little weight in IT since June 2022, but he has generally loved these three key topics throughout his life. Arora's inaugural equity fund launched for subscription last week.

"Throughout our lives, we have generally been interested in three themes: consumer, information technology, and finances. But as of June 2022, we have very little to no weight in IT. These three industries will continue to be appealing in the medium run, according to Arora.

Although one may tactically invest in the military, autos, etc., the aforementioned three industries typically form the foundation of any portfolio, he said.

The Helios Flexi Cap Fund, the first equity fund from Helios Capital, went live for subscriptions last week. The NFO is released at a period of increased volatility in the stock market and fiercer competition from rival mutual funds.

But according to Arora, a market correction can also result in more subscriptions as investors would want to buy the drop.

The seasoned investor said that among asset classes, he has always held a little amount of gold. Although gold hasn't performed well lately due to the very high US interest rates, he still thinks that in general, it functions as a true hedge and diversifier.

All of our team members support equity and having "skin in the game." More than ₹32 crore has already been invested in the new fund offer by our staff, including myself, according to my check from yesterday night," he stated.
