Ranchi Land fraud: The ED has so far issued three subpoenas for Chief Minister Hemant Soren to appear for interrogation in relation to the Ranchi land fraud, but he has not done so. The Supreme Court will hear his writ petition, which he used to contest the ED action, on September 15. CM referred to ED's action as unlawful.

CM objected to ED's action

CM Soren received a second summons after failing to show up on the first one, asking him to go to the ED's Ranchi zonal office on August 24 for questioning. However, CM Soren did not show up at this time either. In the interim, the Chief Minister had sent a letter to the ED requesting that it revoke the summons.


He has also spoken of dealing with ED via legal channels, calling the summons illegitimate. It is significant that on August 23, the Chief Minister petitioned the Supreme Court with a writ challenging the Enforcement Directorate's decision.
