Now, Sasaram is accessible via Son Intercity's Dhanbad-Dehri route. This was approved by the Railway Board. Many cities in Bihar will be easier to reach as a result of the train route's development. Prior to that, on June 24, 2021, the Intercity Express from Dhanbad to Gaya was extended to Dehri on Sone. The expansion up to Sasaram has now been approved.

The train is now suspended until October 10th due to Varanasi's ongoing yard remodelling project. The halt will probably start before Durga Puja.
