New York: On Monday, a federal court in New York dismissed a lawsuit filed by Donald Trump in which he claimed a former magazine writer had slandered him after she won a assault case against him. By bringing his own lawsuit in June, Trump attempted to turn the tables on the 79-year-old former Elle magazine columnist by claiming that she had defamed him by continuing to claim that he had her in front of US media notwithstanding the civil trial result.
However, District Judge Lewis Kaplan ruled on Monday that Carroll's allegations that Trump assaulted her are "substantially true." Following the civil trial, Trump was ordered to pay Carroll $5 million. He has filed an appeal after denying the accusations. following Trump dubbed Carroll a "whack job" on CNN the day following the civil trial result, Carroll filed a fresh claim for damages.
