Top CPI (Maoist) leaders Misir Besra, Ramesh alias Anal, Ajay Mahto, Anmol, Mochu, Chaman, Kande, Sagen Angaria, and Ashwin are skulking around the Kolhan district of Jharkhand for subversive actions, according to Chaibasa.

According to West Singhbhum district Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Shekhar, a special joint operation was being carried out in the Tonto police station's forest area between Sarjamburu, Rengdhatu, Luiya, and Huspi as part of the campaign beginning on August 8, 2023.

The interaction continued for around 30 minutes

After five years, there was an approximately 30-minute direct contact between the security forces and Misir Besra's core squad on August 9, 2023, in a steep and forested location under the Tonto police station, close to the Rerdakocha forest. They were forced to leave Sarjamburu, and their new headquarters was destroyed.

When the security forces became overpowered during the confrontation, the Naxalites fled by using the forest and the mountain as cover. A significant amount of ammo and other everyday items were found during the further search operation.

On August 10, the security forces carried out a second search operation and destroyed 11 different bunkers the Naxalites had erected nearby. From these bunkers, which have been destroyed, a significant amount of ammo and everyday items were discovered.
