3.30 metric tonnes of fish production is the goal for this year. The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana offers several services to farmers as subsidies in order to help them become financially independent.

Fish farming by state women is subsidised up to 60%, according to HN Dwivedi, director of fisheries. The Central Government provides fish farmers with several amenities, ranging from the building of ponds to subsidies.

7500 fish growers will receive special training

Dwivedi stated that 7500 fish seed farmers had received specialised training to date. The state produced 1200 crores worth of fish seeds this fiscal year. The education of fish seed breeders is nearly finished.

Fish farmers in their respective areas will also get seeds from fish seed providers. In addition to this, he will raise fish in his pond.

Only the village level should be responsible for seed production

To ensure that high-quality fish is available to the populace locally, the government wants to cultivate fish seeds at the village level.

In addition to the state, neighbouring states also have a need for fish seed. But that level of productivity is not being reached. The state received its fish seed up to this point from West Bengal.

West Bengal is the source of 70% of the fish seed. In the state, just 30% of fish seed is produced. The state's weather patterns and rocky terrain are among the causes of this.

47 programmes are being offered to fish growers

47 programmes are being implemented in the state under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. In this, SC-ST women fish producers are receiving a 60 percent subsidy of the whole cost. A 40% subsidy will be given to other fish growers.

There are further programmes included in this system, such as biofloc ponds, carp and scampi hatcheries, grow-out ponds, and rearing ponds. The government is offering a subsidy on the entire price.

The department has furthermore provided fish growers with life insurance. The state government has also sent the federal government a payment of 40% of this.

If a fish farmer passes away while covered by life insurance, his family would receive Rs. 5 lakh in financial support.

A smaller Biofloc pond will be constructed

In the city, fish farming requires less acreage. The government has a proposal to construct a biofloc pond for this.

It may also be used to create small bioflocs with dimensions of four metres in diameter and 1.5 metres in height. where fish aquaculture is simple to undertake.

Who receives how much assistance?

The government would subsidise SC-ST or female building by up to 60% and male construction by up to 40%. The interested fish farmer must complete out an application and submit it to the fisheries office in order to be considered for this.

Under these programmes, a grant of Rs 1.2 crore and Rs 80 lakh would be granted to men and women, respectively, for the establishment of a fish feed facility, which will cost Rs 2 crore.
