Calcutta quickly changed its name to Kolkata. Madras became known as Chennai. Before 1950, Punjab was known as East Punjab. Before 1950, Uttar Pradesh was known as United Provinces. Changes in names are nothing new.

Such name changes occur for culturally and politically motivated causes. Names frequently draw inspiration from aspects of culture, civilisation, and history. Numerous countries' names have also altered. Washington, the first president, is remembered by the name of the US capital. Persia was the name of Iran. This is where the Persian Empire was founded. Instead of Persia, the nation's name later changed to Iran. Formerly known as Burma, Myanmar. Jordan used to be known as Trans Jordan. According to legend, its name is connected to the Jordan River. The introduction of a thing by its name is the beginning of knowledge, according to the Rigvedic Jnana Sukta. The true understanding is still buried in the word's definition. The power of penance enables wise people to understand what is being said.

The naming of states and major cities is also influenced by cultural heritage. The same is true for Keralam. The left-leaning affiliation of the state's chief minister is reflected in the name Keralam. The name is quite popular in India and around the world. Shakespeare may have stated that there is power in a name, but names really do matter. A book about Savarkar was authored by historian Vikram Sampat. Savarkar was adamant on using the term Hindutva.

The book claims that Savarkar parodied Shakespeare's remark, "What's in a name? Honolulu? Can Ayodhya go by that name? Encourage Americans to refer to Washington as Genghis Khan or convince a Muslim to identify as a Jew. The state of Kerala's suggestions for name changes.

Why does the so-called liberal-secular camp, which renames institutions and centres in its different areas and nations, become hostile towards such nationalist ideas is the essential question.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, did not hastily rename Allahabad as Prayagraj. A recognised interstate cultural hub is Prayag. The largest gathering on earth is taking place during this Kumbh Mela. People come here as pilgrims and worshippers from all over the world. The word "Prayag" has a long history. This is the home of Indian religion, culture, and knowledge. Despite these facts, the Left secular group persisted in opposing Prayag's designation.

Even when the Mughalsarai railway station in Uttar Pradesh was renamed Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction, these same factors continued to cause unneeded uproar.

Every magnificent memory connected to the history of the Hindu country is rejected by the so-called secularists. India was ruled by foreigners for a very long period. The local religious and cultural centres were destroyed by foreign powers. Although it is the responsibility of the state and society to restore them to their former status, forces that do not fully embrace Indian culture continue to be hostile towards cultural icons.

Some individuals also took issue with the name "Bharat" for the nation. This topic generated a lot of discussion in the Constituent Assembly. 'India that is Bharat' was the name given to the nation. By legislation, it should be called Bharat, which is what it is. Harivishnu Kamath proposed an amendment in the Constituent Assembly to rename the country "Bharat or India in the English language." He recommended the names Hindustan, Bharat, Hind, Bharatbhumi, and Bharatvarsha, among others.

According to Seth Govindas, calling it "India that is Bharat" is not a lovely way to refer to it. This name, Bharat, which is also used to refer to India in other nations, would have been acceptable. The Mahabharata was also cited by him.

Bharat is a historic name, according to KS Subbarao, who also noted that it appears in the Rigveda. According to Kamlapati Tripathi, "In thousands of years of subjugation, the country lost everything, including its name, culture, respect, and humanity."

The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly has suggested changing "India that is Bharat" to "Bharat that is India" in 2004. The two are institutionally distinct from one another. The name of the state should be changed, according to the Kerala Assembly. The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly's decision has to do with the nation's name. The previous nine years have seen a cultural rebirth in India.

A unique kind of national consciousness is emerging in relation to cultural icons and historic treasures. Despite this, some individuals made inappropriate remarks regarding the cultural emblem "Sengol" in connection with the opening of the new Parliament building. All symbols, monuments, cultural artefacts, and names connected to national prestige must be treated with respect and care as a matter of national responsibility.
