Video and voice calling capabilities are coming to X (previously Twitter)

The DM menu on the X's top right side has a video calling option.

CEO Linda Yaccarino of Twitter, which is transforming into X, has stated that users will soon be able to conduct audio and video calls on the site without disclosing their phone numbers. Linda acknowledged that users may place calls through the Direct Message (DM) option during a conversation with CNBC.

Another image of the new DM menu with a voice and video chat option was given by Andrea Conway, a design engineer at X. The X's DM menu has a video calling option in the upper right corner that looks similar to those on most platforms.

Unlike some platforms, X won't need its users to give their phone numbers in order to make audio or video chats, according to Linda. Additionally, X will impose some limitations to stop spam calls.

In the next weeks, the business anticipates launching its native video and audio calling capability, which is now undergoing final testing. The firm is expected to place certain limitations on its non-premium customers, as is common with freshly released services on X.

The site has seen several changes since Elon Musk bought it, with the renaming from Twitter to X being the most notable. The site has added features like long-form movies and essays, and it even allows users to monetize their material by giving them up to 97% of the cash generated.

In a similar vein, the network has placed a variety of constraints for non-paying users, including caps on the amount of direct messages (DMs) and tweets (tweets) each day, in an effort to stop data harvesting and avoid system manipulation.
