India-France Defence Deal: During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to Paris, India and France struck significant Make in India deals. Two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed by Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) of both nations to manufacture submarines, fighter aircraft, and their components in Mumbai and Kolkata for export.

Paris. During Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's trip to Paris, France and India inked many significant defence contracts. Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) from both nations signed two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to produce submarines, fighter aircraft, and component parts in Mumbai and Kolkata for export.

Both Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) will serve as the catalyst for the start of Prime Minister Modi's "Make in India" project. Mazagon Dockyard Limited and the French Naval Group will collaborate to design and produce Scorpene class submarines for a third nation, while Kolkata GRSE and the Naval Group will produce surface naval combat aircraft for export.

PM Modi is concentrating on the future

The purchase of 26 Rafale-Marine fighter planes for INS Vikrant or the procurement of three more Scorpene class submarines were not included in the Indo-French joint statement, as some in the media have noted. The Defence Acquisition Council had already acknowledged the necessity of both projects, but the reality is that South Block did not want to participate in the Ministry of Defense's procurement processes. In order to build a foundation for the future, PM Modi concentrated on bringing India's people and talent together with French technology.

Tricolour in vegetarian menu's thread

On July 13, PM Modi was greeted by French President Emmanuel Macron over a two-hour private dinner at the Elysee Palace where they discussed world events and the impending G-20. The Louvre Museum then observed its first Bastille Day closure on July 14 since 1953, when France entertained Queen Elizabeth. Even the specifically created vegetarian meal featured an Indian tricolour rather than that of the host nation.

The G-20 conference in India and the Ukraine war were also covered

President Macron promised to do all in his power to support India in making the G-20 meeting a success, despite concerns over the conflict in Europe, as the two leaders addressed the Ukraine war and the upcoming conference. While the media was only paying attention to three Scorpene submarines and 26 Rafale M aircraft. The two presidents resolved that nations in the Indo-Pacific that are targets of an assertive China will have small diesel attack submarines developed for them.

Indonesia already signed a deal

With an option for four more, Indonesia has already contracted with France for two Scorpene-class ships. While all US submarines are nuclear-powered, Scorpene attack submarines with diesel engines may be particularly elusive in tropical seas since their engines have been turned down. Nuclear submarines with constantly operating nuclear reactors are simple to see since they cannot be turned off.
